I'm not gonna lie, girl. Every part of me is having to work hard to continue to put this into words, because Audacity can't really be written or encapsulated
It can only be felt...take this in the way you would if someone was explaining an exquisitely expensive fragrance to you
Yes, be enchanted away on an exotic journey, but until your skin has been adorned with it's delectable scent, until you are surrounded by its indulgent orchestration, do you fully get it
You may have detected it on another & recognise the notes, but never had the pleasure of wearing it yourself
Until now...
We're so used to thinking audacity is a bad thing, or that it's about entitled white men, getting away with more shit.....that's "small a" audacity (technically that's small d audacity but not for this page...)
Big A Audacity is a woman filling the room with her presence. Not the most beautiful or intelligent, nor funniest, loudest, strongest. Just the most Audacious. It's her energy. There's nothing to prove
No one in that room that interests her? Inspires her? She's out. She can walk away from small talk
No fake smiles or apologies as she leaves either
Her face is unmoved by unfunny jokes. Shitty political views, she's ready to unleash her opinion without backing down
She says no to the PTA. To taking other people's kids when she doesn't have the capacity. Small favours for friends & family when her cup is already empty
She's listened to in meetings, highly revered in her career. Other women either cheerlead for her or are triggered by her. She doesn't do a middle ground, nor imposter syndrome energy
Her stories are watched by other women who never support but her name is definitely said in rooms & over tables
Because she found her voice, she lost relationships. But those that fell away she had outgrown anyway
So she knows her to deploy her altruism & when to deploy her assholeism. And DAMN does she have attitude & so do the women she brings together

We run on estrogen & oxytocin, two bonding hormones
It's a part of our social nervous system that creates the attachment process between mother & baby. We have a super power to promote group harmony & better read body language & facial expression than men
But it's why we suffer more with the idea of being cast out & social comparison than they do - it's a survival level threat, so we'll stay in situations that otherwise look the opposite of safe
